Email pairpal@gymshackles.com and we will reply as soon as we can, usually within a day. To report a student or a message, use Report in the app so the team sees it straight away.
Getting in before launch
PairPal opens to everyone on the date shown in the app’s countdown. Until then, early access is invite only: enter the access password you were given on the first screen. Tap “Remind me when it opens” to get a notification on launch day.
Signing in and passwords
Sign in with the email and password you chose. If you forget your password, tap “I already have an account”, then “Forgot your password?”, and we will email you a six-digit code. You can change your password in Profile → Settings → Change password.
How matching works
PairPal shows students who take the same subjects, starting with your school. Tap the cap (or swipe right) to study together, or the cross (or swipe left) to pass. When you both choose each other, you are study pals and a chat opens. You only meet students in your own age group: 13 to 17, or 18 and over.
Test profiles
Profiles marked “Test profile” are not real students. They like you back, reply automatically and post scores, so you can try every part of PairPal before your friends join.
Verification ticks
A grey tick means a student confirmed an email address at their school, in Profile → Edit profile → Verification. A gold tick means the PairPal team checked a student ID in person at a school event.
Reporting and blocking
Use the menu on a profile, card or chat, or press and hold a message, then choose Report or Block. Blocked students are listed in Profile → Settings → Blocked students, where you can unblock them. Read the Community Guidelines for what is not allowed.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile → Settings → Delete account and confirm. This permanently deletes your profile, photos, messages, files, score results and study time from PairPal, straight away. If you can’t open the app, email pairpal@gymshackles.com from your account’s email address and we will delete it for you.
Changing your birthday
Your date of birth decides which students you meet, so it can’t be changed in the app. If it’s wrong, email pairpal@gymshackles.com.
